Event : On the Frontline of Defending Freedom: The Role of Business Leaders in Strengthening Civil Society
The event is intended for Georgian businesspeople and professionals in managerial positions living in the United States, whose personal and professional lives are directly and negatively affected by shifts in Georgia’s pro-Western course. The destruction of bridges built over centuries between Georgia and the West and the disconnection from a Western development trajectory; they protest against all of this and are ready to take action to oppose being effectively stripped of their voting rights and treated as second-class Georgians.
The aim of the event is to foster an open discussion, through concrete examples studied and analyzed in advance by the speakers, on what practical steps the business community can take in response to challenges affecting all pro-Western Georgians, especially those living in the Western diaspora.
The discussion will take place in a panel format, focusing on two main topics:
• The business community’s practical response to the de facto cancellation of elections in the diaspora
• Eataly- Opening “business embassies” in Georgia, similar to Eataly’s concept DC-სა და NY-ში.
The event will include a live fundraising session for the project "The lights must stay on"which brings together 22 online media outlets standing guard for freedom and democracy.
